Weeks of B-Days

Wow! The past 3 weeks have been a time of birthdays… well, in terms of church b-days at least. About 3 weeks ago, we celebrated the birth of HMCC of Chicago. Then 2 weeks ago we celebrated the 10th year b-day of HMCC of Ann Arbor. Then yesterday, in San Diego, we celebrated the birth of Kairos Christian Church.

I had the privilege of witnessing the birth of Kairos Christian Church. There is something about being part of the first service of any church plant. I could feel the excitement in the air – the anticipation was very contagious.

It was encouraging to see many people from Church of Southland filling up 2 buses right after their service to witness this church plant. On behalf of the Trans-Local Team (leadership of AMI), I was able to give a greeting and some words of exhortation. We closed out the service with Pastor Keith leading us in the Communion.

No birth should be experienced alone – whether it is a birth of a child or a birth of a church. This is why being part of something bigger than just HMCC is important. I can’t wait for the future when we see more churches planted throughout the world, we will all be able to witness it together with the greater body of AMI, whether it is live in that city or live through a video feed. Either way, it is going to be quite a sight!
