Picnic on the Porch

Today for dinner we wanted to have a make-shift picnic on the porch. As the weather was getting cooler due to the approaching thunderstorm, we thought it would be refreshing to have the gentle breeze blow on our faces (ok, well… it was more like me trying to convince my family). Finally, my persuasiveness won out and we grilled some Korean marinated beef and had a delicious cold noodle dish.

As it started to drizzle, it was a quite a sight. Some parts of the sky was dark while other parts were sunny. It was truly a contrast to enjoy, even the kids were mesmerized.

Instead of going inside after dinner, the kids and I decided to enjoy the moment. The kids were reading their books while I was delighting in my Chinese tea. It has been a long time since we just took pleasure in looking out at nature and enjoying the simply things of life. Truly priceless.

2007 AMI Revolution – The Call

There is just one day left before the start of the AMI Revolution conference. This year’s theme will be “The Call.” I am looking forward to sharing on the 2nd night. I will be talking about “The Transformative Call.”

The Revolution Conference started back in 2005 as part of the intensive training for the students going on summer missions program in the AMI churches. But now it has developed into a conference to motivate and mobilize college students across the United States for world missions.

This year Grace Covenant Church in Philadelphia will be hosting the conference. I want to give a big shout out to Pastor Young and the rest of his staff for all the hard work in getting this conference ready.

It is going to be an exciting conference. We are going to have several hundred students gathering together to run hard after the heart of God. We are praying for a “revolution” to happen like the one we read about at the turn of the 20th century with the Student Volunteer Movement. But instead of just a missions movement to spread the Gospel, we want to see a missions movement that will plant churches to build God’s Kingdom.

Bird Watching

Christina and I had our weekly date-day (we try to alternate from a date-night to a date-day). After breakfast, we decided to take a walk. I have always believed that “older” people took walks together – but then, I guess we are getting older… HA!

As we were walking around our neighborhood we came across so many different types of birds. In fact, it was pretty fascinating. Now, I understand a little bit why one of our staff members (name to be withheld) is into bird watching.

We were able to see birds from all different assortments of colors. The best part was when we saw the white heron – it was pretty cool. Maybe bird watching and taking walks go hand-in-hand.
